that you can apply in your IELTS course preparation.
Practical Tips for the IELTS Academic Reading Task 7:
Matching Sentence Endings
Do you want to
achieve nine band score in IELTS Academic Reading Task 7? Utilize these
practical tips for the matching sentence endings task:
·
Read
the instructions before answering each question. This reading task consists of
the following guidelines:
Ø
You
are required to write their answers on the answer sheet.
Ø
The
questions are in the same order as the information in the given text.
Ø
Keep
in mind that there are more options to choose from than the questions.
·
Skim
the text and determine its overall gist. This is the ideal reading strategy to
cut down your reading time. Don’t forget to examine the first sentences of each
paragraph as well as the last paragraph of the text. Practice skimming academic
texts in your IELTS course review sessions.
·
Read
and examine the question. List down all the keywords such as names, dates, and
critical points that are related to the given text. Use the listing method of
note-taking to organize your notes properly.
·
Analyze
the list of possible options. Look for words or phrases that are related to the
text. Use the process of elimination to remove options that are associated with
the text.
·
Build
up your vocabulary. Keep in mind that the questions and the list of options are
not identical to the sentences in the text. This means that you need to be
adept at recognizing synonyms as well as paraphrased sentences. Expand your
vocabulary by enrolling in an IELTS center.
·
Since
the order of the questions is the same as the order of information in the text,
answering the first question enables you to locate the information you needed
to match the incomplete sentences to the possible options.
·
Don’t
forget to review your answers before you proceed to the next part of the IELTS
