Matching features task measures your ability to determine specific critical points as well as to recognize relationships and connections between facts and opinions presented in the text. Successfully acing this reading task is now within your reach. Simply follow these practical test-taking tips during your IELTS course preparation:

          ·         Determine the overall idea of the text by reading the first two sentences and the last sentence of each paragraph.

          ·         Examine the statements and look for names, dates, and other critical points.

          ·         Read and analyze the list of options. Look for keywords and key phrases.

          ·         List down all the keywords that you found in the statements and the list of options.

          ·         Use the listing note-taking method to organize your notes properly. This note-taking method enables you to cover a lot of keywords and key phrases properly.

          ·         Spend at least two minutes answering each question. Use your notes as your guide to match the statements to the list of options.

          ·         This reading task also contains paraphrased statements, so work on your paraphrasing skills during your IELTS course review sessions.

          ·         It is possible that some options in the list will not be used, and others may be used more than once.

          ·         Keep in mind that the order of the statements is not the same as the order of the ideas in the text.

          ·         If you still can’t determine the correct option to a statement, use the process of elimination.

          ·         Once you’ve matched all the statements to their corresponding options, review your answers and revise them if necessary.
