Review sessions in academic institutions may become too tiring and can thus wear off your physical, mental, and even your emotional state. Intensive training in the TOEFL review center, for one, can exhaust your mental capacity if you do not take care of your health. Here are some tried-and-tested ways to stay healthy and aid your review sessions in the TOEFL and IELTS review center.
SLEEP
It is understandable that you are dedicated to achieving your desired band score. However, it is no excuse to deprive you of getting enough sleep. Resting boosts your memory. When you sleep, you allow your brain and body to repair damaged tissues and refuel energy to your weary body. This activity also contributes to positive energy and alertness that you need to accomplish tasks for the day such as attending your next training session in the TOEFL review center.
STAY HYDRATED
The brain is composed of about 75 percent water. Thus, it goes without saying that it is essential to stay hydrated. When you lack water in your body, you lose 20 percent of your mental capacity. Drinking enough amount of water is crucial especially if you engage in tasks that require a significant use of your brain such as attending and participating in lecture classes in the IELTS review center. Though caffeine is a proven energizer, keep in mind that water is still the most efficient and the cheapest way to stay hydrated.
EAT
Do not deprive yourself food. Eat small nutritious meals such as foods filled with whole grains, fruits, protein, and vegetables to obtain energy that you need to survive the day. Though it is tempting to snack on prepared foods –like burgers and fries-, note that they do not have the essential nutrients to fuel your brain.
EXERCISE
Hectic work and class schedule can make it impossible to do some routines. A quick morning walk and exercise everyday release endorphins, happy hormones that make you feel better and can thus direct your mood for the day. Moreover, exercising is a good activity to release stress and supply oxygen to your brain.
REWARD YOURSELF
Do something rewarding after every accomplishment. Significant improvement in your scores in practice tests in the TOEFL review center, for instance, calls for movie or coffee treat. Rewarding yourself is also one way to boost your energy level and to motivate you to do better to achieve your TOEFL or IELTS score goal.
PLAN AHEAD
Planning ahead of time saves you from cramming and the stress of identifying which tasks to prioritize. It also helps you accomplish more tasks and have some leisure time to pamper yourself for the hard work.
STAY CONNECTED
Staying social can contribute to keeping your emotional and mental balance. Chilling out for quite some time with friends and family members helps boost your motivation and refuel your drive to study for the high-stakes exam. Your network is also a good outlet to have someone listen to your thoughts, clear your mind, and keep you on track.
With intensive training sessions, busy work and study load, and increasing life demands, it is important to stay healthy –both mind and body. Follow the excellent ways mentioned above to keep you mental, emotional, and physical strength at its peak.
