IELTS Speaking Sub-Test


The IELTS speaking sub-test takes about 11–14 minutes and consists of three components such as the Introduction and interview, Long turn and Discussion. Coherence, on the other hand, measures your ability to talk or express yourself in a clear way with logical and well-organized answers.

     2.    Lexical resource
The second scoring category evaluates IELTS test taker’s vocabulary. As the examiner listens while you talk, he assess your use of words and phrases—is it varied or are you just using the same words all over again.

     3.    Grammatical range and accuracy
In grammatical range and accuracy, the examiner assesses the test taker’s grammar skills. This refers to the number of different grammatical structures that you use while speaking and how frequently you commit mistakes.

     4.    Pronunciation
The last speaking test score category measures your ability in articulating individual words correctly. It also includes other aspects of pronunciation including word stress, sentence stress, intonation and chunking.
